Jonas Du Rietz recently completed the prestigious arbitrator training program organized by the Swedish Arbitration Association (SAA) in collaboration with the SCC Arbitration Institute. This unique program gathers a select group of lawyers with extensive experience in Swedish and international arbitration. Over twelve intensive sessions, Jonas deepened his knowledge of arbitration law and gained new skills that will benefit both him and Morris Law.
With 12 years of experience as counsel in dispute resolution, Jonas saw the training as a natural step in his development. “You’re never done learning as counsel, but after many years in the field, I felt ready to transition to the decision-making side of arbitration,” he explains.
The training provided in-depth insights into legal frameworks and practical tools to address challenges faced by arbitrators. “It’s been a long time since I had the chance to learn for my own development rather than solving specific cases. It was incredibly rewarding,” Jonas says.
He believes these new perspectives will also enhance his work as counsel. “Having a deeper understanding of how arbitrators think and the challenges they face makes me a better advocate. It improves both practical handling and how I build a case.”
Jonas is excited to use his expertise to support Morris Law’s international ambitions. “We now have even better opportunities to act as both counsel and arbitrators in arbitration proceedings. It’s a natural step in strengthening our position as an international player.”
He also highlights Sweden’s strengths in arbitration. “For its size, Sweden is a strong player thanks to SCC. Nordic arbitration is known for its efficiency and minimal bureaucracy, which is highly attractive internationally.”
With this training, Jonas is ready to handle disputes more effectively. “The goal is to make the process as smooth as possible for everyone involved—especially our clients,” he concludes.
